Hello! I'm Suzie.

I'm a freelance illustrator working from my little cottage in England, where I live with my husband, son and ball-of-fuzz kitty.

Background

I loved art as a child but took a scientific path at school, studying Astrophysics and then Medical Imaging at university.  In my mid-twenties my husband gifted me an ipad and on a whim I began to teach myself digital art, which I had always admired.  Soon I realised that art was becoming my all-consuming passion, and I worked in every spare moment to learn illustration. After signing with the Bright Agency I was lucky enough to become a full-time artist in 2017.

Since then I have illustrated 20 picture books, several book covers and greetings cards, and was delighted to have two books written by Hoda Kotb reach Number 1 in the New York Times Bestsellers list for Children's Books!

In April 2020 I welcomed a little boy into the world and now can be found working most often in nap times and evenings!

Art

You’ll most often find me drawing animals or landscapes at the moment, but I love anything charming, sweet or generally happy. I love creating more niceness in the world.

All my pieces are digital and hand-drawn in Photoshop.  My illustrations can span a variety of styles, but fundamentally I love texture and bright colours.  I love how digital art allows me to incorporate a variety of textures in my work!

Work

Clients include HarperCollins, Candlewick, Penguin Random House, Cantata Learning, Amicus Ink, Liontree Publishing, Little Tiger, Stripes and UK Greetings.  At this time I am unable to take personal commissions or individuals’ book projects, but if you'd like to discuss any publishing or editorial projects please do get in touch via my agency, the lovely Bright Agency.
